NFL's reality: So far but yet so close

PHOENIX -- The debate will rage about whether Super Bowl XLII will be remembered more as one of the greatest upsets in NFL history or one of the great missed opportunities in modern sports. The New York Giants' 17-14 victory over the New England Patriots offers hope to every team: All you have to do is make the playoffs to have a shot in the modern NFL.
