Nicklas Backstrom & Alex Ovechkin: NHL Stars of the Week

 
The NHL announced the leagues Stars of the Week today, and Washington Capitals center and left wing, Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin, have been named First and Second Stars of the Week. Nashville goaltender Dan Ellis was named the NHL’s third star. Backstrom led the NHL with 11 points in four games; including two goals, nine assists and a +10 rating. He matched a personal best of four assists in one game and set a personal record with five points on Saturday night in New Jersey. He currently holds his longest career assist streak at five games (Nov. 8-15). Backstrom has 16 points on the season (two goals, 14 assists) and is tied with Alexander Semin for the team lead in assists. Ovechkin has recorded a goal in the Capitals last four games, totaling 10 points (five goals, five assists) and a league-best +11 rating in that span. Teammates Ovechkin and Semin currently lead the NHL in plus/minus with a +17 rating; Backstrom is third at +11. This season Ovechkin has recorded 18 points ... (link)
