No deal done, but Santana still out there

The New York Mets left the winter meetings empty-handed. Their biggest consolation: Nobody else pulled off a trade for Johan Santana, either. The two-time Cy Young Award winner was still a member of the Minnesota Twins as baseball's annual bazaar ended Thursday. That was a surprise to some, but not the Mets, also interested in Baltimore ace Erik Bedard, as well as Oakland's Dan Haren and Joe Blanton. Yet none of Omar Minaya's meetings in Music City produced the trusty arm he seeks. (link)
