No ribbing - Phil Hughes is out until July

 
Well, it looks like Phil Hughes is truly hurting for certain, with a fractured rib, and may be out until July. As the News’ John Harper wrote today: At least we know the Yankees aren’t so paranoid about the early season failure of their young pitchers as to invent an injury to Hughes in some attempt to avoid sending him to the minors. True. But they need to send Ian Kennedy, last night’s pitcher, down to AAA. Joe Girardi seemed to say as much in the postgame last night. And maybe it’s time for Kei Igawa (gulp) to come back to the big leagues. Never thought I’d say that, but desperate times call for desperate measures. Last year at this time, the Yanks were firing Marty Miller, their strength and conditioning coach, due to all the injuries. But this year, it seems like there are just as many injuries.
