Notes: Alou won't be back before Monday

 
Plenty of tidbits today: • Moises Alou’s rehab will continue with Double-A Binghamton on Friday. Because the inclement weather in Florida slowed things down, Jerry Manuel said Alou will now join the Mets no sooner than Monday in Philly. • Manuel plans to rest Carlos Beltran in Thursday’s series finale, with Endy Chavez starting in center. Now that they aren’t waiting for Alou’s imminent return, look for an outfielder to be called up after tonight’s game to replace Carlos Muniz. The Mets currently have 13 relievers. • Luis Castillo isn’t headed to the DL yet, but Manuel met with him today. Look for a schedule to be worked out where he plays part time because of quadriceps troubles. Manuel said, in retrospect, he shouldn’t have played Castillo in both games of Friday’s doubleheader. • Oliver Perez, who is going a week between starts to separate him and fellow lefthander Johan Santana, may get one relief appearance this ...
