Notre Dame Goes Green: Plans To Win On and Off The Field

Notre Dame football is going green this Saturday for its final home game against the Syracuse Orangemen.  There’s no need to fear the “green jersey jinx,” referring to ND’s bad habit of losing when they run out in green jerseys.    Everything BUT the jerseys will be green.   For the first time ever, a Notre Dame football game will be carbon neutral . All of the carbon emissions produced by stadium energy use, as well as fan and visiting travel and hotel stays, will be offset by energy conservation projects coordinated by Notre Dame’s new Office of Sustainability during its first semester on campus.   And as NBC Universal celebrates its second annual Green Week , they will also green their ND football coverage—encouraging Irish and Orange fans alike to join their respective teams on CarbonRally.com . The team that grows the largest by November 30 will take home $10,000  to support campus environmental initiatives. (link)
