Oakland Athletics Close to Trading for Rockies' Matt Holliday

The Athletics, neither particularly rich nor particularly close to contention, are close to pulling off the first blockbuster trade of baseball's offseason, plucking away slugging left fielder Matt Holliday from the Rockies in a deal that would enhance the reputation of A's General Manager Billy Beane for creative roster-building.
