Packing for Vegas: College Basketball Picks Jan. 5

After two losses last night, I realized I've been backing way too many favorites. So for the next couple of weeks I will be seeking out underdogs. Tonight, however, I can't help myself: I'm backing another favorite. I like Northeastern giving eight against Hofstra. Since getting blown out by Michigan in Ann Arbor, Northeastern has won road games against Providence and Indiana. At 2-0 in the Colonial Athletic Association, I think they could take the conference title this year. This might be the last favorite I back for a week or so. Especially if the Huskies don't cover.   Today's Pick: Northeastern -8 ; 1 unit   Season Record: 26-18 (59 percent); +13.2 units (link)
