Pedro's father loses battle with cancer

Pedro Martinez's father, Pablo, 78, died during Wednesday night's game against the Phillies. After hearing the news, the Mets starting pitcher left Shea Stadium. Pablo Martinez, also known as Paolino, passed away following a long battle with brain cancer.
