Phillies Take Game One from Brewers

 
In their hometown, the Philadelphia Phillies took Game One in the NLDS against the Milwaukee Brewers. The contest was sold out and filled with anxious fans awaiting their first postseason victory in 15 years. Phillies starting pitcher Cole Hamels pitched a gem, scattering two hits and no runs in eight strong innings. He also posted nine strikeouts. The Phillies got help on the offensive side of the ball when Chase Utley's two-out, two-run double gave them the lead. Soon after, Milwaukee starter Yovani Gallardo walked Shane Victorino with the bases loaded to force in the third run. All three runs were unearned because of Mike Cameron's error. Galladaro went four-and-two-thirds innings, but lacked control throughout, resulting in a high pitch count. In all, the Brewers used five pitchers—not a good amount in Game One.
