Pierre Thomas Shines As Saints Win In K.C., 30-20

 
With the injuries of Reggie Bush and Deuce McAllister last year, rookie Pierre Thomas was a bright spot at the running back position for the Saints, and yesterday was no exception. Thomas carried the ball 16 times for 88 yards and a touchdown, his longest run of the day being 16 yards. He also caught 4 passes for 56 yards as the Saints beat the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, 30-20. Drew Brees completed 25 of 36 passes for 266 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. His favorite receiver was Lance Moore, who caught 8 passes for 102 yards. Moore also caught the Brees' longest pass of the day, which was a 47-yard touchdown. Also in the receiving department: Tight end Jeremy Shockey caught 6 passes for 39 yards and Marques Colston caught 3 passes for 30 yards. Deuce McAllister carried the ball 8 times for 18 yards and a score. The Saints also played well on the defensive side.
