Puerto Rican challenger Carlos Quintana won the WBO welterweight title Saturday night, unanimously outpointing previously undefeated Paul Williams at Pechanga Resort and Casino. There were no knockdowns in the fight that Quintana won with scores of 115-113, 116-112 and 116-112. Quintana got off to a fast start, winning three of the first four rounds.
