The Oakland Raiders released tailback Dominic Rhodes, a former Super Bowl standout for the Indianapolis Colts. The move comes in the aftermath of an NFL draft in which the Raiders used the fourth overall selection Saturday on Arkansas tailback Darren McFadden. The Raiders still have tailbacks Justin Fargas, LaMont Jordan and Michael Bush on the roster as well. Rhodes was one season into a two-year contract with the Raiders. mvn.com 4/28/2008 — After hauling in Darren McFadden, you had to know that the Raiders weren’t going to keep all of their veteran running backs on the roster. The consensus pick to be released by the Raiders was Lamont Jordan. The shocker is that Dominic Rhodes is the first back to be released by the Oakland Raiders. Rhodes only had one season left on his contract, so the cap hit shouldn’t be too substantive.

mvn.com 4/29/2008 — The Raiders have signed another defensive back named Derrick Brown, except this one is Darrick Brown, SS, McNeese State. Brown is a four year letterman in track and field and also in football. His brother, another defensive back from McNeese State signed with the Cardinals.
