Rain falls at Shea, Pedro throws in Florida

 
3:37 p.m.: My mid-90’s grunge crush Shirley Manson must’ve been singing about me in Garbage’s extremely underrated almost-hit “I’m Only Happy When it Rains.” The last two games I’ve covered at Shea - this is Botte, by the way, filling in for our weary-traveling main Mets man A-Rube - have included a day full of rain, the tarp on the field when I get here and all of the writers sitting in the back row of the press box because this lame-duck Stadium of theirs suddenly is springing leaks all over the place. I’ll let everyone know ASAP on the status of tonight’s game, but I heard the talkies on the radio as I was pulling into the lot already were mentioning the proverbial “window” for the game to be played later.
