Red Wings-Blackhawks: Detroit Escapes with a Win in Chicago
The Detroit Red Wings were able to keep rolling in the second game of a back-to-back series of games, just barely sneaking past Chicago with a 6-5 shootout victory, giving them their sixth win of the season.
Marian Hossa played another brilliant game, and he won it with his shootout goal against Blackhawks netminder Nikolai Khabibulin. Hossa took an unorthodox approach to his shot, choosing to just blast it past Khabibulin with the game on the line.
Hossa also managed one goal, one assist, and he was flying all over the ice for the second night in a row.
The Wings were playing catch-up nearly the entire game, and things looked bleak when Ben Eager scored to make it 4-2 Chicago. Fortunately, the big guns woke up and Niklas Kronwall, Nicklas Lidstrom, and Jiri Hudler all scored in succession to make it a 5-4 Wings lead.
However, this would be short lived, as Patrick Kane scored on the power play, just three minutes after Hudler's goal, ultimately sending the game in to overtime.
