Redding to have surgery, should be OK by spring

Nationals right-hander Tim Redding will have minor surgery on his left foot on Friday and is expected to be fully recovered by the start of spring training. The operation will repair damage to the bone in the joint at the base of the second toe. It will be performed by Nationals medical director Dr. Wiemi Douoguih and foot and ankle specialist Dr. Lew Schon at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore. Redding went 10-11 with a 4.95 ERA in 33 starts this year. (link)
