Report: USC's Mayo in hot water

ESPN is reporting a former associate of USC freshman guard O.J. Mayo is claiming an events promoter provided the Trojans’ star with thousands of dollars in cash and other gifts over the past four years. Louis Johnson told ESPN investigators that Rodney Guillory, a Los Angeles-based event promoter, gave Mayo close to $30,000 and other gifts throughout high school and during his only year at the Pac-10 school. Mayo has declared for the NBA draft, where he should be a Top 5 pick. Guillory received monthly payments from Bill Duffy Associates, a Northern California sports agency, according to the network. Guillory reportedly received close to $200,000 before Mayo arrived on campus. Johnson told ESPN that Mayo used most of it to support his lifestyle, then gave a portion to Mayo, who then entered into a verbal agreement to allow Duffy to represent him when he declared.
