Reports: Brett Favre will retire after 17 seasons with Packers

Brett Favre has decided to retire from the NFL after 17 seasons. FOX Sports first reported Tuesday that the Packers quarterback informed the team in the last few days. ESPN.com said that according to Favre's agent the quarterback told coach Mike McCarthy of his decision.

Well, the day has finally come. Brett Favre is retiring from the NFL and the Green Bay Packers. Favre has informed Coach Mike McCarthy of his decision and no doubt a news conference will take place in the next day or two. It is obviously a sad day for Packer Nation and I’m sure everyone here at the Frozen Tundra will weigh in with their thoughts shortly. I will do so later in the day as well.FAVRE TO RETIRE

The Brett Favre era for the Green Bay Packers has come to an end. ESPN is reporting that Favre’s agent Bus Cook told Packers coach Mike McCarthy of his clients decision last night. Favre also called ESPN reporter Chris Mortensen this morning to officially break the news.
