Much has been made about the UConn reunion of Richard Hamilton and soon-to-be new Pistons Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva. Although Gordon and Villanueva will be teammates, it's not at all a certainty that Hamilton will be around to join them.
The Pistons have agreed to a 5-year deal worth between $55 million and $60 million for Gordon and Villanueva, the former Milwaukee Bucks forward, will receive a 5-year deal worth as much as $40 million.
Signing Gordon presents a huge problem for the Pistons, already having Richard Hamilton and Rodney Stuckey as their guards. Although Stuckey could possibly play at point guard and Hamilton could play at small forward while Gordon plays at shooting guard, it's not a highly likely scenario, leaving Hamilton as the odd man out.
Hamilton, who averaged 18.3 points last season, had trouble adjusting to the sixth man role that former Pistons coach Michael Curry placed him in so creating the same scenario for him can't bode well. ...
