Righty Jennings gets off to good start

Righty Jason Jennings allowed only one walk in two scoreless innings as the Rangers rallied for an 8-7 win over the visiting Royals at Surprise Stadium. Michael Young got his first hit of the spring and had two RBIs, while Josh Hamilton had three hits.

After a poor start to the 2003 season, shoulder problems forced him to miss the remainder of the year as well as 2004. The Texas Rangesr signed him in 2005 and despite some strong Triple-A numbers (.301/.379/.489 and 14 homers) never called him up to the majors. He’d spend 2006 playing in Triple-A for Pittsburgh and spent last season in Triple-A for Tampa Bay hitting .284/.384/.488. The RaysNon Roster Invitee: Jamey Wright - Rangers

I understand there are reasons not to be excited about seeing him back so I will at least mention them as well. Last season marked only the second time in his career that he had more innings pitched then hits allowed. (The other was 2003 when he allowed 23 hits in 25.1 innings) Further evidence that last season was a fluke could be evident by his career best 1.47 WHIP based on seasons with 50 or mTEXAS RANGERS Blog | The Dallas Morning News
