Welcome to the new wave of NBA free agency.
Late Tuesday night, when the clock hit 12:01 a.m. Eastern time, Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey listed the following on his Twitter :
"Meeting in a few w/ (Marcin) Gortat.Send a note to him NOW at rocketsfanslovegortat@gmail.com .He will receive.Show him how much we want him in Red!"
He tweeted from the front door of Gortat's Orlando home .
Gortat, the backup Orlando center who got attention after helping the Magic reach the NBA Finals, seems to be one of Houston's top free-agent targets, with Ron Artest as the other. Gortat is a restricted free agent, meaning that the Magic can counter any offer Morey can pitch.
