Rich Rodriguez fired Michigan's assistant coaches Thursday, his second day as an employee of the school.
Rodriguez met with the coaches one by one at Schembechler Hall as retiring coach Lloyd Carr packed up his belongings in boxes, clearing space for his successor.
Michigan athletic director Bill Martin declined comment.
Carr will coach the Wolverines on Jan. 1 against Florida in the Capital One Bowl, then Rodriguez will take over.

That was my initial reaction to Thursday's news that new University of Michigan football coach Rich Rodriguez had essentially taken a broom to Schembechler Hall, informing every current assistant coach that they would not be retained after the Capital One Bowl.
