Roy Halladay Gets 20th Win in Final Start of the Year

 
It was a night to remember for Roy Halladay and the Toronto Blue Jays as their 8-2 win over the New York Yankees gave Halladay his second 20-win season of his career, thus ending the season on a very good note. It was another typical Halladay type start as he extended his lead in complete games, getting his ninth of the season and throwing only 96 pitches to do it. Halladay completed more games on his own than 27 teams as a whole. This outing lowered Halladay's ERA to a minuscule 2.78, good for second in the league. He also finished the year with his highest strikeout total ever, 206. The right-hander sliced his way through New York's lineup, completing the game in 96 pitches, inducing 17 outs via ground ball, and retiring the final 13 batters he faced in order. He finished the game having given up only two runs on six hits, one walk, while striking out five batters. If not for a lack of run support, Halladay would likely have 23 or 24 wins now.
