The Sabres activated center Jochen Hecht from injured reserve Friday before their game against Atlanta. Hecht missed 10 games after breaking his right middle finger against the New York Islanders on Oct. 13. Hecht has a played in two games this season, and has scored once. To make room for Hecht on the 23-man roster, Buffalo waived center Matt Ellis in advance of sending him to Portland of the AHL.
