Sabres' Pominville signs 5-year extension

Forward Jason Pominville signed a five-year contract extension with the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday, a day before the team opens training camp. Pominville, entering the final year of his contract, finished second on the team with a career-best 80 points (27 goals, 53 assists) last season and was identified as one of two core players the Sabres wanted to secure with long-term deals this offseason. The other was goaltender Ryan Miller, who signed a five-year, $31.25 million extension in July. (link)
