Tonight, the Sacramento Kings hosted the Minnesota Timberwolves at Arco Arena. The team entered the game 1-4 on the strength of a win over Memphis in their last outing.
For most of the first half, the Kings' Kevin Martin and John Salmons were able to exploit the Timberwolves' defense. Martin and Salmons combined for 24 first-half points and the Kings went to the break leading 62-55.
The Kings' defense held Al Jefferson and Mike Miller to just seven first-half points, each.
After three quarters, the Kings lead 92-79 behind another strong quarter from John Salmons and some great post play from Spencer Hawes. Hawes made running hook shots with each hand, as well as a couple of jumpers. Hawes also kept up his streak by hitting a three pointer in his sixth straight game to open the season.
Kevin Martin came out and hit a jumper, drifting to his right to start the fourth quarter. The play set the tone for the rest of the game. The game was never in doubt again as the Kings cruised to a 121-109 ...
