Saints willing to up offer for Shockey

The New Orleans Saints are willing to up their offer for Jeremy Shockey, and there remains at least a chance that it will be enough to get a deal done. According to an NFL source, the Saints were preparing to add an additional late-round selection to their initial offer of a second-round pick. It is believed that they were going to dangle their fifth-round selection, mostly because they don’t have a pick in the fourth round. It’s not clear if they were just considering increasing their offer, or whether they had already told the Giants they’ve increased it. But if they haven’t done it yet, the source said they are likely to do it today.
