First, reports surfaced that the city's professional basketball franchise was considering a move to Oklahoma City. In search of a new arena for Rookie of the Year Kevin Durant and the Sonics, the owners of Seattle's NBA franchise decided that the coastal port city could no longer harbor basketball hardwood.
