The Arizona Daily Star is reporting that Salim Stoudamire, the ex-Arizona Wildcat, has left the Atlanta Hawks and now will play for the Spurs. The wire report comes late Sunday evening. The Spurs have not confirmed the signing with an official announcement.
Still, Greg Hansen reports that the shooting star has signed and is expected to replace the three-point shooting threat of Brent Barry and perhaps Robert Horry.
Stoudamire is the cousin of former Spur, Damon Stoudamire. He was selected by the Atlanta Hawks in the second round (31st overall pick) of the 2005 NBA Draft. At the University of Arizona, Stoudamire led the Wildcats to an Elite Eight appearance in 2005 (he and Channing Frye were the first four-year players at UA not to make a Final Four appearance since the 1980s).
Stoudamire broke the individual three-point percentage record (shot 50.4%), previously held by former Spur and Arizona alumnus Steve Kerr.
