A Chelsea fan at my workplace was complaining in typical fashion: "Ït's Petr Cech's mistake, the box is his territory. He should have placed defenders on the posts!"
I tried to convince this distressed guy that it's something that is practiced in the training ground and Scolari should make sure his defense does not repeat the same mistake again.
It was not untill later in the day that I came across Scolari's post-match comments and was shocked to see that he too was quick to blame his ever-consistent and reliable goalkeeper.
"I asked Petr (Cech) what happened because one player was free in the middle of the area in the last minute. It is incredible. Petr is the captain for this area."
But that's not all, it was even more astonishing to read that the World Cup winning manager does not believe in planting defenders on posts.
"Posts do not score goals, players score goals," he said.
Instead of playing the blame game, Scolari should rethink his own tactics. After all, the chapter on ...
