Shame On 'Ew': Knicks Cut Ewing Jr.

10/27/08 The Knicks management, regardless of who is running the show, never ceases to amaze when it comes to their seemingly mindless decision making. The team announced this afternoon that it was cutting Patrick Ewing Jr., in favor of keeping Anthony Roberson and Jerome James on the roster. Ewing, a clear fan favorite and the son of the team's greatest player, brought back some memories from better days Friday night during the final preseason game of the year, throwing down two dunks and hitting a three, while drawing chants of Pa-trick Ew-ing from the crowd, just as his father had some years before. The move to cut Ewing just doesn't make sense for a number of reasons, starting with the fact he fits so perfectly into the type of game head coach Mike D'Antoni is looking to run. His offensive game is still raw, but the energy he brings and the passion he would have played with wearing a Knicks uniform is something the team still lacks, and would have been a big boost to a fan base craving ...
