Bob Sheppard, the Yankees' public address announcer since 1951, will miss the final opener in Yankee Stadium's history as he recovers from health issues that have limited his workload over recent months.

Yankees PA announcer Bob Sheppard, who is recovering from health issues, said he will not be able to make it to Opening Day this year , the final opener at Yankee Stadium. It's ashame, the place really isn't the same without him. Sheppard does expect to be back at The Stadium at some point this year, "I don't know when it will be, but it will be," he said.
