Shocker! Pavano wins the game!

 
I’m still in shock that Carl Pavano actually pitched tonight. And that he not only didn’t stink, but that he won the game. Unbelievable. And at times in his postgame interview, he came off a little, dare I say it, appealing? I liked how he repeatedly thanked his teammates. I liked how he kept on saying how he had work to do. But he probably should have skipped saying this part: “It’s amazing; this is what I get paid to do and this is what I work for,” Pavano said. “This is all I really know, to go out there every fifth day and do my job.” If he really can go out there and be halfway decent every fifth day for the next 5 weeks, then that would be terrific. You never know - if Sir Sidney Ponson could be a servicable starter for the Yanks, then why not Pavano? But what does it say about the whole Phil Hughes thing that 3 1/2 months after his broken rib, he’s still not up with the big leagues? Carl Pavano was ready before Hughes was. ... (link)
