Red Sox Sign Papelbon
sportsofboston.com 3/8/2008 — The Red Sox and closer Jonathan Papelbon agreed on a 1-year, $775,000 contract. Papelbon earned $425,550 last season while earning 37 saves and 1.85 ERA. So if I do the math, Paps will be earning almost twice as much as he did last year. Papelbon wanted a new multi-year deal, but he does not have any leverage due to his small amount of ML service.
