Sports Briefing | Pro Basketball: Pistons Fire Curry After One Season

The first-year coach Michael Curry became the latest Detroit Pistons coach to be fired after the team stumbled to a sub-.500 record and a first-round exit from the playoffs. Joe Dumars, the president of basketball operations, had said Curry would return after the Pistons were swept by Cleveland in the first round of the playoffs. Curry replaced Flip Saunders, who went to the Eastern Conference finals in each of his three seasons. In 2005, the Pistons parted ways with the Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown. He won a title in 2004 and returned to the finals the next season during his two years with the team. (AP). (link)
