Steve Nash Says "No" to Energy Waste, Gets Suns to Instead Use Namesake
Ever seen a green basketball? Neither have I. However, I do love when interests of mine collide, especially for the better.
In an environmentally friendly maneuver, Steve Nash convinced the Phoenix Suns to use solar power to help keep the lights on in the US Airways Center.
Nash should be cheered for the effort and is a great role model to not only kids, but also their parents, who should be speaking to their own employers about adding solar power to their buildings.
According to the Arizona Republic , over 1,100 panels placed on the roof of the parking garage will help offset the power for what would amount to over 26 home games each season. The system will be operational next year and will offset more than 440,000 pounds of CO2 each year.
The move is not the first by an NBA team (the Lakers announced they will also be putting more than 1,700 panels on the roof of the Staples Center), but it is important nonetheless. And what better team than the Suns to lead the charge on this ...
