Strahan announces retirement

After 15 seasons in the NFL and one Super Bowl championship, Giants defensive end Michael Strahan announced his retirement Monday. The 36-year-old Strahan told FoxSports.com he’s decided to ride off into the sunset off the heels of the Giants Super Bowl XLII championship. He had been pondering for months whether he still had the desire to play in 2008. Several weeks ago he said he had made up his mind but didn’t want to announce it until he was 100 percent sure. Apparently he’s sure. “It was important that my teammates knew which way I was going before they got on the field to start the work to defend our title,” the team’s all-time sack leader told FoxSports.com. “It’s time. I’m done.” I’m out at Giants Stadium for a team practice and will have much more on this story later today. [link]
