Strahan seeks 8 million reasons to play in 2008

 
How much is one more year of Michael Strahan worth to the Giants? We’ll all soon find out, but in case you didn’t see it in today’s Daily News, Strahan believes it’s worth $8 million , according to a couple of sources familiar with his situation. That would be double what he’s due in the final year of his contract. At the moment, sources said, the Giants have let him know they’re willing to increase his salary to $6 million for 2008, but obviously a little bit of a gulf remains. Strahan believes he should get as much as the Dolphins are scheduled to give Jason Taylor, a defensive end in a comparable situation - with a long resume, in his 30s, and nearing the end of his career. Now, it’s important to know one thing: Strahan hasn’t issued an ultimatum or demand about the money. He has not told the Giants to give him $8 million or he’ll retire.
