SU slaps back at Devendorf

Syracuse starting junior guard Eric Devendorf must perform 40 hours of community service and be reinstated by the university before he can play again for hitting a female student in the jaw with the heel of his hand during an off-campus altercation, according to a decision by the university's Appeals Board. He can petition for re-admission to the school second semester if he fulfills the conditions of his community service. Until then, he is indefinitely suspended and will miss tomorrow's game against Memphis. Syracuse originally suspended Devendorf for the remainder of the season. If Devendorf is re-admitted, he must perform additional hours of community service to remain a student. Second semester starts Jan. 12. Syracuse's first game after that is a big one - Jan. 14 at Georgetown. (link)
