After 16 seasons in the NHL, Teemu Selanne reportedly told the Helsingin Sanomat newspaper in Finland, "I have one more season left, a man my age doesn't belong in the NHL."
This announcement allows many of his fans and of Anaheim in general to be prepared what's ahead for the season after this upcoming season, ending his career after 17 seasons, 10 of which spend with the Ducks.
Teemu was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in 1988. He continued to play in the Finnish SM-Liiga league, until 1992 the Jets came to a contract agreement.
Teemu's rookie season was the best season he has had, scoring 76 goals and 56 assist. He holds the record for most goals by a rookie and is tied for most points by a rookie.
He won the Calder Memorial Trophy, which is awarded to the player who is most proficient in his first year; A.K.A. "Rookie of the Year."
He also tied for most goals in a season with 76.
After four years with the Winnipeg Jets, Teemu tallied 147 goals and 159 assists in 231 games played.
