His arm was considered too weak to make big NFL throws.
His now former team, the New York Jets, brought in two quarterbacks in three seasons to replace him.
The first quarterback, Kellen Clemens, was drafted in the second round in 2006.
While Clemens may have a stronger arm, a completion percentage of 52, and a touchdown to interception ratio of 1:2, he will not get it done in the NFL.
The Jets then traded for Brett Favre during this past year's training camp and Pennington was finished. He signed with the only team that would even look his way—the woeful Miami Dolphins.
It seemed as if Pennington's career would fade away in Miami. The Dolphins had cleaned house after coming off a 1-15 season.
All Chad Pennington has done in 2008 is post one of the best seasons in his career.
Through fifteen games, he has completed 67 percent of his passes for nearly 3,500 yards, 17 touchdowns, and only seven interceptions.
