Syracuse freshman forward Donte Greene has declared himself eligible for the NBA draft. Greene says he made the decision after discussing his future with his family and coach Jim Boeheim. He led the Orange in scoring at 17.7 points per game, fourth-best in the Big East. He also averaged 7.2 rebounds and led the team in blocks to earn All Big East rookie team honors. [link]

Well, yesterday I posted on this blog, as well as emailed Brent Axe (from Syracuse.com) about the fact that DraftExpress had Donte Greene leaving for the NBA, thanks to a source close to the freshman.

Perhaps spurred on by the Internet report that predicted it, or perhaps not, Donte Greene has officially declared himself eligible for the NBA draft. He will forgo his remaining three years of eligibility for the right to sit on the Orlando Magic's (theoretically) bench next season.

So finally the Greenegate has come to an end, the freshman forward has officially declared his intentions to head to the NBA. From what I read in this article it says that "Greene informed SU head coach Jim Boeheim today of his intent."
