Tag, You're It! The New England Patriot's Quarterback System

 
On Opening day the New England Patriots lost Tom "Terrific" for the year and Patriot Nation was about to go into mourning.  They had seen the future in Matt Cassell and it wasn't good.  Well a funny thing happened on the way to Foxboro, the Patriots discovered that they may have a quarterback controversy. Cassell hadn't started a game since high school; as a redshirt freshman in 2001 he backed up Carson Palmer.  When Palmer left for the NFL, Matt thought his time had come, but another future Heisman trophy winner Matt Lienart outplayed him and got the starting job. Matt never complained and fortunately in 2005 he was by the New England Patriots in the 7th round.  Again he was a back-up to a superstar this time a three time Superbowl winner.  He was probably happy just to be there, knowing he wasn't high on any ones draft board.
