Coached by Pat Quinn, Canada's national team has once again brought home gold from the World Junior Hockey Championship. After spanking Team USA 7-4 on New Year's Eve, surviving a shoot out scare against the Russians, Canada beat the Swedish National team 5-1 Monday night.
Canada opened the scoring in the first period with a goal by P.K. Subban, with the game winning goal coming in the second period from Angelo Esposito. Other scorers for Canada included Jordan Eberle and Cody Hodgson who led the team with two goals and one assist in the game.
Hodgson was also the top points scorer in the tournament with five goals and 11 assists for a total of 16 points followed by fellow Canadians John Tavares (15 points) and Jordan Eberle (13 points). Sweden's lone goal came in the third period by Joakim Andersson.
This win by Canada marks the fifth straight victory for the hosting country. This year the tournament was being held in Kanata, Ontario. Russia went on to beat ...
