The Arrival of Mike Dunleavy Jr
When Mike Dunleavy Jr. was drafted third overall by the Golden State Warriors in 2002, he was just beginning the start of 5 very rough years in the Bay area. Dunleavy was called an underachiever and a bust. He got signed to a 5 year extension worth 44 million dollars after 3 less then stellar years in Golden State and got the tag of overpaid to go with the other two not so flattering nicknames. To add fuel to the fire, he was constantly booed by his home fans in Oakland.When Don Nelson arrived in Golden State in 2006, he called Dunleavy "soft" and Mike found the end of Nelson's bench. In January of 2007, Mike was traded along with Troy Murphy, Ike Diogu and Keith McLeoud to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Stephen Jackson, Al Harrington, Sarunas Jasikevicius and Josh Powell.
