The Fate of Troy Glaus and the St. Louis Cardinals

While Troy Glaus approaches his return to baseball, one can't help but to conclude it will not be in a Cardinal uniform. The 32-year old received right shoulder surgery in January and has been nothing more than a periodical update to the team. The latest update states that Glaus is now taking batting practice off a pitching machine, but still cannot throw the ball 90 feet. This would set up a perfect return at first base or as a DH until the healing process wrapped up. The only problem? Neither one of those options is reasonable to the Cardinals' lineup. Since the Cardinals are in the National League and Interleague Play will be long gone when, and if, Glaus returns, DH isn't an option. There's no need to even discuss Glaus returning as a first baseman with MVP Albert Pujols taking on St. Louis' duties at the position. With Glaus not being able to throw, play first, or DH for the Cardinals, a trade with a team in need of Glaus is likely. The Braves, Mets, Giants, Mariners, ... (link)
