The latest on Shockey-to-Big Easy

 
I told you last night that the Saints had upped their offer for Jeremy Shockey, making it even more likely that a deal could get done today. Well, my old friend, Jay Glazer, has ferreted out a couple of more details while I was sleeping this morning. According to The Glaze, on Foxsports.com , the Saints have added either a sixth-round pick this year or a fifth in 2009 to their initial offer of a second-round pick. I don’t know if that’s going to be enough because late last night I was told the Giants were playing hardball, still insisting on safety Roman Harper. But with a few hours before the draft, the lines of communication are definitely open and there are an increasing number of people around the league who think Shockey will be a Saint by sundown.
