The NBA Rapidfire Report: 4 Hot Topics. 4 Burning Writers.

The 2007-08 NBA season is buzzing with subplots and marquee matchups. With so much intrigue I rounded up a group of NBA fans to drop in their two cents on the topics of the day. Make sure to look for the “Bleacher Report Roundtable” coming later this week with more topics and more in-depth analysis.    How good do the Celtics look, beating the Spurs in San Antonio and then snapping the Rocket's 22-game winning streak in Houston the next night? Chad Ridgeway: The Celtics look great. They can defeat anyone, not just by virtue of their three All-Stars, but with superb team defense. They are about to leave their stamp on Texas when they kick the Maverick’s butt tomorrow night in Dallas. Monk: They have added some very valuable depth… PJ and Sam were huge. They had a paper record and no shot at making noise (as contenders for a title) without those pickups. Both guys are post season performers and neither are uncomfortable in the spot light.  ... The Final Month: A Win-Win?

Spring is almost here, and optimism is consuming us. Wait, it's not? Fine. Just please adjust the grocery bag out of your line of vision and read on. The Bucks are only 5.5 games out of the playoffs. With slightly less than a month left in the regular season, that's no small amount of ground to make up. Then again, it's hardly an insurmountable deficit.

Houston Rockets vs New Orleans Hornets

The Rockets were beaten badly by the league leading Celtics last night. At half time both teams were deadlocked at 40-40, but then in the third quarter they were outscored 32-16 and they couldn’t make the comeback. Tracy McGrady was held to a low 8pts and Rafer Alston, who had 31pts against the Lakers the previous game, was held to 12pts. 03-19-08

Andrew Bynum = Elden Campbell

Andrew Bynum is getting so much hype lately that I cant help but recall the 1990-1991 season of Los Angeles Lakers when a young seven foot center was drafted from Clemson and was touted as the next greatest center in Los Angeles Lakers history, his name? Elden Campbell.

No Gasol-ine, But Lakers Coast Home

No Pau Gasol… both Andrew Bynum & Trevor Ariza still weeks away from being ready, but the Lakers are still capable of good basketball. Midway through the 3rd quarter against Dallas, in Dallas, Los Angeles were up by 25 points. The Mavericks rallied, but couldn’t finish - LA running out winners 102-100.

Another Highlight By #24

In yesterday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks the Lakers ran what turned out to be the ultimate fast break. Derek Fisher gets stuck between the baseline, the basket, and a defender, but luckily enough, the trailing Kobe Bryant is there to finish the play. It wasn’t quite textbook but nonetheless, it worked out!! If only the second half had more baskets such as this for the Lakers. Enjoy!
