I tuned in to watch last night's Celtics-Lakers game thinking it should be a battle between two of the top teams in the league, a rematch of last year's Finals and a possible preview of this year's. With both teams having nearly identical records, I also thought this one game might matter down the line when it comes to deciding homecourt advantage.
Who knew I was seeing another command performance by one of the most formidable tag-teams since the Road Warriors. The Lakers and the officials last night combined to defeat the Celtics in a handicap-match 110-109 in overtime, bringing their record this season to 40-9. A most impressive run for this tag-team.
But this isn't just about last night's game, because even the most loyal Celtics fan will admit the C's blew it. Boston turned the ball over too many times, mostly in careless fashion that led to easy Laker hoops.
