The WAC’s 2008 Bowl Record Puts an Exclamation Point on a Pathetic Season

 
The Nevada Wolfpack ended a pathetic Western Athletic Conference showing in Bowl games with a 42-35 loss to the Maryland Terps in the Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl . Despite qualifying 5 teams for post season bowl games, the WAC went 1 for 5. The sole win was the Independence Bowl as the La Tech Bulldogs beat Northern Illinois 17-10. As for the rest of the WAC, lets just say things were drastically unimpressive. The Fresno State Bulldogs started the losing off with a loss to Colorado State in the New Mexico Bowl . Boise State followed that loss with a disappointing loss to TCU, in the battle of the BCS snubs aka the Poinsettia Bowl . Then Hawai’i made Charlie Weis and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish feel better about themselves as they were thumped in the Hawai’i Bowl . So where does this leave the WAC. Well after two consecutive years in a BCS Bowl the WAC can stop with the “ Who’s Next ” commercials and instead just get better. The first step was the ... (link)
